This is a poem I have written about early Victorian London Life and is set around the events surrounding one day in the life of a wealthy man. showing the Social divide between the Rich and Poor. Charcoal skin and cheeky grin "want your chimney swept again Master Jim?" said him, Flat cap tipped high, "well" said I with a wishful sigh "be here at 9 tomorrow with Brush and barrow, that will be fine". As I look down the cobbled road before me, I see gold Crested Doors upon Carriage and Horse, steaming Stallions with wild eyes, brass medallions on their side. I notice a familiar sight and tip my hat to the right, "Good day miss Roberts" she acknowledges with blushed cheek and a coy look to her feet. With quickened pace her rustled lace, disappears within a trace, of muffled girlish laughter. Memories of the time she captured my Heart, when her eyes of Green flashed across crowded floor, to the Ballroom door where I stood. In that moment, that joyous time, when her eyes met mine, the music stopped as my beating heart took the lead. The swell of Love played its tune across the room, as we danced each other's dreams. A tug on my Coat brought me back to the Street of Beggar Boy with upturned cap, held out in hope, that his return home could help his Sister. All these shots were taken at the monthly rockabilly club night Virginia Creepers in London (where I am the resident photographer) unless otherwise noted. It's not a burlesque night, but the promoter Marilyn Coleman frequently spices things up with a bit of 50s-style tease-o-rama on special occasions. The performers in the order they appear: Cherry Shakewell, Honey Lulu, Slinky Sparkles (photographed at faux vintage lingerie emporium What Katie Did), Millie Dollar, Devillia de Dallas, Marianne Cheesecake, Cherry Shakewell again, Miss Kitty Baby (at Viva Las Vegas Burlesque Contest 2007), unknown Marilyn Monroe lookalike (also at Viva Las Vegas 07. Ive forgotten her name but shes too beautiful not to include) and finally Scarlette OHarlotte. The soundtrack: rather than typical bump'n'grind stripper music I decided to choose something a bit moodier and downbeat. The song "Striptease" comes from an obscure 1963 French film about a ballerina-turned-stripper starring Nico -- yes, that Nico, the German chanteuse long before she became an Andy Warhol Superstar and joined the Velvet Underground. The song is written by the great Serge Gainsbourg. In what would have been her recording debut, Nico originally sang the films title track but her version was rejected and it was re-recorded by the more famous Existentialist / beatnik diva Juliette Greco. I've included both interpretations: Nico's first, then Greco's. Both are beautiful. And I think Gainsbourg would have approved of me ...

Tony Leung is Cheung Suk-Wai, a famous image designer who finds love a minefield. His curse: to create female media idols and fall in love with them - only to be dumped when they become more famous than he. His newest project is cute mainlander Ah Yu (Vivian Hsu), who he resists before succumbing to. He simultaneously becomes attracted to his strict new boss Vivian (Ada Choi), who is rumored to be a lesbian. Meanwhile, best pal Patrick (Alex Fong) finds himself questioning his player lifestyle when he falls for his longtime friend Mei (Suki Kwan). As is typical with these sitcom UFO set-ups, the plot gets resolved with wit, insight, and plentiful metaphor. This is a well-written and well-acted piece of HK entertainment that is reminiscent of Yuen's past scripts, as well as the work of US auteur Woody Allen. In particular, the film seems to share a link to the 1993 UFO film Tom, Dick, and Hairy. Both films deal with the male experience of romance, and both films leave their issues fully explored but ultimately ambiguous. It's refreshing to find a well-written commercial HK film that's as thoroughly enjoyable as this one. After too many seemingly dour roles, Tony Leung rebounds with an inspired comic performance. Equally good is Alex Fong, who shows range as the pathetically likable Patrick. Cute Baby Doll Really Coos and Giggles
The adorable baby doll has plastic hands and head and a soft body and legs. She's dressed in permanent underclothes, booties and an attached headband (additional "Baby Alive" outfits are available for separate purchase). She has a sweet face featuring cartoonish, oversized eyes that will delight little girls. Press her tummy to hear a variety of baby sounds. Most of the sounds, including giggling and cooing, are pretty realistic -- although our child tester thought one of them sounded like a cat purring. The sounds are very easy to activate -- perhaps too easy! Beware if you're trying to keep the doll quiet, because there's no "off" switch to prevent accidental noises during your child's nap time.

Feed, Carry, and Rock Baby to Sleep
The baby carrier has a lightweight plastic frame and printed fabric cover. The baby doll fits into a snug pouch that's secured with Velcro straps. Like most small children, our child tester is fascinated with real babies, so she immediately took to carrying the baby in her carrier just like the real mothers she's seen.

The carrier can be used basket style, carried on the crook of an arm; it also comes with straps so a child can wear it as a front pack. Fold the carrier down and prop it on its handles to use it as a rocking bassinet, or sit it up on one handle as a feeding chair. The child can feed her with the included toy baby bottle. Finally, the carrier can be folded closed to use as a travel bag. While it's very easy to configure the carrier, younger children will need some assistance in figuring it out.

Plenty of Room for Imagination
Although the doll does require batteries, we love that the toy's functionality doesn't dictate or put limitations on the terms of the child's play. Unlike other specialized, battery-operated toys that offer a limited range of functions, this toy offers versatile props that really foster a child's imaginative role playing.

This Baby Alive doll comes with 3 AAA batteries. A Phillips screwdriver required to replace them.
